That night

I was walking through the aisle, as I was moving towards my room.
“Another day has gone by”, I said to myself.
Then suddenly someone shrieked from behind.
“Hey!! Listen up”, the voice reached my ears.
I turned around. A perfect looking, well dressed man approached me.
“I don’t have much time…”
“See, I don’t need a credit card”, barging myself in.
“I am not here to sell credit card, I am here to sell life” he told me firmly.
“Phew!! Sell life!! What are you a devil or something?” I said aridly.
“Well, not exactly”, he smiled.
He had an irresistible charm on his face, a perfect voice and a very respectable way of talking.

“I am the person you call GOD”.
“Yeah right!! and I am Tom Cruise” I commented sarcastically.
“No you are not. Tom cruise isn’t that ugly.” He said blithely.
“What don’t you trust me? That’s your problem, you have never trusted me. You know it hurts me.”
“Tell me what’s wrong with you, why do you have to think about things so much”.

How is hell he knows about me. Who is he?
I took a firm glace on him. How did he get in? He doesn’t even have his ID.

“God wears Nike and sports a Tag Heuer, very interesting!!”
“Ohh!! That’s because I am rich. You people spend too much money on me. I don’t need it, spend on something who really needs it, I don’t”.

Somehow, strangely enough, I was not feeling skeptical about the guy.

“See, that’s not the point here” he continued. “The point is you.”
“What is your problem in life? Why can’t you be happy with yourself?”

“I don’t have any reason to be…. Everything is just messed up”, my face frowned.

“No, nothing is. Nothing is messed up. You are making things messy. Things are not that complex as you are making it. Just let them be free.”
“Look at yourself, what have you become!! You were such a carefree, ‘happy go lucky’ kinda person. Why do you have to take life so seriously now? You have let situations in life change you and that’s bad.”

“I know, I know… I am good for nothing”.

“Again thinking!!! Why do you have to think so negatively about yourself? You are perfect the way you are, everybody is for that matter. I love the way you are.
Everybody is perfect. The “extroverts”, “introverts”, “losers”, “choosers” ,”boozers” and “the Indian cricket team”.

“The Indian team too??” I exclaimed surprisingly.

“Well, on second thoughts….. Just kidding!! They are just fine”.
“See every person in this world, no matter where he or she is and what they do, has his/her significance. And that explicates there existence”
“You are all here for a reason and that reason is that you have to play your part in the play called life”.

With each passing moment his voice was becoming stronger and face firmer.

“Then why are there are so many imperfections around us”
“Why are the politicians corrupt, why there is so much suffering, why people hate each other and why Bhubaneswar is such a boring place?”

“Hey!! Bhubaneswar is perfect” he pointed.

“You don’t get it, do you? Life is not perfect… It can never be. You don’t have to wait for perfection in life to be happy. And imperfections are as significant as perfections are.
No one thing is life. It’s the good, bad and the ugly. You have to take everything in your stride. You can’t cherish good if you haven’t gone through tough times, you can’t cherish success if you haven’t worked hard for it and sometimes you can’t cherish true love if you are not heart broken.”

“If I give you everything you want you would be the unhappiest person in the world.”

“Ohh boy!! You kidding me!! Why don’t you just try it out” I smiled.

“Do you honestly think you deserve what you ask for?” My smile disappeared.
“Deserve before you desire!!”
“And from where I see it… you have everything and everything that you should be proud and happy about. Wonderful friends, darling parents and a great job. You just need to open your eyes.”
“You are working too hard man… thinking too strong. Relax!! It’s not such a big deal… chase your dreams but don’t go mad about it. Because in the end you will realize that they were not such as big deal afterall”
“You are not happy with your job… isn’t it?”

“No, I am not”, I nodded in desolation.

“It’s just a job… not life. This is just what you do for a living nothing more and nothing less. There is more to you than just a job. Don’t let one thing define you. Do you think I love my job?”

“You don’t?”

“No, its not easy to see my children in pain. It really breaks my heart. Its not easy playing God. But I am not cribbing like you.”
“You are not happy with the money you are getting. Trust me you should be. You have money in your pocket, you are better of than 70% people in the world, atleast in the sense that you can buy your own bread... you know that??”

“Goodness gracious!!” my heart was in my mouth.

“Believe in yourself, believe in what you are doing. Trust your instincts and believe the fact that you are powerful. Almost everybody look up for everything, but all they have to do is look within”.
“Enough of philosophy now!!”
“I have to rush now, have to see a wonderful son of mine, he lost his mother few days back and he is in disarray. You should consider yourself lucky.”
“Always remember don’t try to become what you are not, instead find yourself and be him. Cos I have created you and I would take it as an insult if you qualm my creation”
“Also, there are lots of things that you can’t understand and predict. This is because you don’t have that vision. What seems to be wrong and woeful at this time, might turn out to be good. So, don’t analyse your life too much, just live it.”
“Its something unpredictable but in the end its right…”

“You listen to Green Day too”

“I listen to everybody but only few listen to me”
“What you don’t have you don’t need it now and what you need will surely come to you. Don’t you worry, I will take care of that”
“Alright, get up now, you have an onsite call at 8:30 in morning”

I suddenly opened my eyes. The morning beam of light was falling straight on my eyes.
Why the hell sun rises so early in Bhubaneswar.
My head was throbbing; I remembered that a vodka too many, last night.
Its 8:30 by the watch, “these onsite guys would kill me!!!”
